The 2010 World Cup is here!!!!!!

We're just hours away from the biggest tournament in the world. 32 Teams representing different countries, backgrounds and beliefs coming together for one month to take each other on and see who the best the team in the world really is. Tensions are running high, adrenaline is pumping through their sweat anticipating the sound of the whistle. The World Cup is definitely in the air, referees are brushing up on their english curse words expecting emotions to be running high. South Africa kicks the tournament off by taking on the Mexico squad. Nelson Mandela might even attend the opening ceremony, South Africa will be the home of 32 different countries for the next month. All of us can someway relate to one of these teams and we'll find ourselves cheering and yelling GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! Like the crazy Spanish commentators and we won't be able to help it because that's what the World Cup does to a person. Good luck to all the 32 teams competing for one goal...the Cup and bragging rights of being the best in the world.

He got game....Well, depending on the night

Some say Rondo is Boston's hero, I say it's Jesus aka Ray Allen. Allen helped close out the Magic, he also hit seven 3 pointers in Game 2 of the finals. Like many other big name players it's a matter of what Allen will show up that night. Will it be the Allen building a house with all his bricks or the Allen draining three's, breaking ankles and playing for a contract. I believe the celtics future success will lie on the kind of play Allen will bring to the court. Rondo seems to have been shut down so far due to the great defensive play by Kobe. The lakers seem to be letting Rondo take the outside shots, they're taking they're chances on being beat by his shot than letting him take it to hole. Allen has to show up if the celtics plan on taking this series to 6 games. KG has been shaky, Pierce has been here and there and big baby has been playing like a baby compared to Gasol and Oden's game 3 performance. Boston has played better away than home but tomorrow is a must win if they don't want the series to get out of control.

Rooooooooooooo!

The world cup is only 2 days away, that's hours from the biggest sporting event in the world. Wayne Rooney is on the minds of players and refs, he's known for expressing himself sometimes just too much. The US team sees his attitude as a weakness, not just Rooney's personal weakness but is also something that can put England's squad in jeopardy. When players are asked to tone it down whether it's for foul language, excessive celebrations, dirty play or even just being a passionate player it usually leads to them under performing. Of course that's what the rest of the teams would love to happen, take the best player out someway, somehow. I'm sure Rooney's teammates appreciate his fire, although he's been warned to keep his cool for the world cup, Rooney has more important things to worry about like Mexico's squad. I say let the man play his game, if others can't handle it then go play kickball. Let the games begin!l

Shame shame shame Big Ben...

After all the talk that has surrounded Big Ben and the steelers over the past few months, Big Ben's back on the field. OTA's are going on all around the league and the steelers have their starting QB back in the mix. Some players say OTA's aren't important, I'm sure if you asked any coach that question they'd probably have a different answer. The court ruled Ben was innocent, the girl accusing him dropped charges and another professional athlete got away by paying someone off. Details on the happenings of that night were revealed none making Ben seem like a decent person. The Commissioner suspended Ben for the first six games with the possibility of decreasing it if he showed good behavior. The fact that he gets the possibility of his six game suspension being decreased is ridiculous. For good behavior?? Aren't these players supposed to be on good behavior at all times anyway, I mean, kids look up to these guys whether they want them to or not. They make millions of dollars, they have it "all", do they really need to go around exposing themselves? That's a joke, and the fact that he's allowed to practice with team like everyone else is a bigger joke. What is Goodell trying to do anyway? If he's trying to portray a strict individual who wants to make an example out of players mistakes he's doing a good job up to this point. He maintained his ways by suspending Ben for 6 "possible" games but then he lets him partake in normal team activities. I see something wrong with this picture. The steelers are too "in love" with this guy and the two rings he brought them, there was rumor after the initial accusations that the steelers might be interested in trading Ben but we all know that was a lie. I understand the steelers want to win at all times and Ben is a huge part of that so them wanting him to practice is only natural. But Goodell letting it happen and viewing those actions as ok is really the biggest issue here. I'm sure Ben is smiling knowing he can show the steelers why they should continue to trust him by being his usual self and publicly humbling himself a little. He's also happy about the fact that he might get his 6 game suspension decreased meaning he might only lose 4 or 5 paychecks instead of 6. Everyone has their own interest in mind but what the heck man, everyone is too wrapped up in themselves to realize they're letting a guy that did wrong walk around going on with his day like everyone else when he should be paying for his mistake someway, somehow. Get it together ROGER! if you want to be the man than act like the man at all times!

Ravens: My AFC Superbowl Sleeper

The Baltimore Ravens have been known for their stout defense led by veteran Ray Lewis. When playing the ravens, you didn't know exactly what to expect from their offense but you knew that defense was going to put points up. The running game was the only thing they had going for them. Flacco has been mediocre at best, especially when compared to other QB's in the league such as the Manning, Rivers, Brady. It probably didn't help that their best WR was Mark Clayton who is two inches away from kissing his career goodbye. Despite the lack there of, the ravens made it to the playoffs the past two seasons. They have an amazing offensive line led by the Blind Side's Michael Oher. During this off season they knew their biggest need was at the WR position, at the same time, it's been their need for the past couple seasons. This year they did something about it. Unhappy Antwan Boldin had been hinting he wanted out of arizona and he finally got his wishes signing with the ravens. We all know the kind of talent Boldin brings to the table. He seems hungrier than ever before joining a playoff caliber team. This very well could be the missing puzzle the ravens had which kept them from getting to the promise land. Flacco, average and all has shown to be capable of handling the pressure making the necessary plays to give his team a winning chance. Defense wins championships, the ravens have had that. What they were lacking was the ability to throw the ball down field allowing other areas to open like their double headed monster of a running game led by Ray Rice. Rice had a career year this past season and he's on track to deliver a stellar performance knowing McGahee is nipping at his heals to take over the starting role. The ravens seem dangerous, loaded at the RB position, the defense scores more points than some offenses in the NFL, their QB is average but continues to improve and now with their sick WR they're destined to go far. Superbowl? I don't know, but i know they're in a better position than the team they battle to the end with every year (Steelers) so they just might have an easier time getting to the promise land.
