The Vick Experiment is in process….

Donovan McNabb was the QB for the Eagles for 11 years, that is until this past off season when he was cut and picked up by the Redskins. Kevin Kolb, the man that's been sitting on the bench holding the playbook every sunday was ready to come out and put all the football knowledge on the field. He did this for week one until he got hit in the head on a play that caused him to have a concussion leaving Mike Vick in charge of the Eagle's huddle. Vick was incarcerated for two years, he's also in his second year back. He showed some signs of the old Vick last year but was mostly shaky with his indecisive play and just not being able to make the plays he once did with his legs. Vick has never really been known as a passing QB, he's an amazing play maker especially on his feet. With having no choice but to step in mid way through the game, Vick looked a lot better than previous outings but fell short of the win. In week 2, Vick faced the Lions, a team not really known for the defense. Whether their defense was on or not, which actually ended up being a close game, Vick played one heck of a ball game. He looked like the Vick that broke ankles, and he did that day but what stood out to me was the way he moved in the pocket with ease. He seemed relaxed and in command of the huddle 100%. Although he made plays with his legs, his arm and the accuracy is what impressed me the most. If anyone has shown obvious growth to me as a ball player it'd be Vick. Being under McNabb last year and Reid for the second year, it seems as though he's matured into more of an all around QB. So far he's played pretty well, he's had to deal with a lot of pressure all at once but he's shown to be capable of handling like a starting QB in the NFL should. Reid has adapted the offense to Vick's game giving him room around the line of scrimmage so he can make the plays he needs to whether it's the long pass to Jackson like this past weekend of him running into the end zone for a TD. These are things that make Vick explosive and very hard to defend. Just when you think you've taken away his passing lanes, there he goes running for the first down. Teams with weak defenses against the run are going to have a long day with this guy, the Redskins know this more than anyone. Though all is good in Philly, what goes up must come down. I'm eager to see how Vick handles adversity when it comes his way. How will he act when instead of winning the game, he throws the game losing INT or on one of his runs he fumbles the ball and the other team scores. How will the town react? Right now everyone seems to think Andy Reid is a genius but I wonder if they'll all think that if the Eagles get their butts handed to them by the Redskins this sunday. The NFL is not a fair league, just ask Kolb. Vick will take what he has, so far he's making the best of his opportunity.

Redskins showed improvement but once again, fell short

Sunday was a day filled with confusion, some things never change with the redskins. They manage to keep you on the edge of your seat, hands sweating, nail biting and of course the heart rate doubled all to leave you with a sick feeling in your stomach. The skins had the game won, they showed offense that hadn't been seen in 10+ years in Washington. First down after first down, passes being caught, yet no running game and after the halftime break coach Kubiak must've said something to light a fire under the Texan players butt's because they came out and put 17 unanswered points on the board taking the game to OT. Fred Davis decided not to work on that field goal attempt that got blocked, last time I checked patting a player you're supposed to be blocking doesn't cut it…and with one hand??@@ Are you kidding me Davis? Small mistakes lead to big consequences and that definitely showed at the end result. My heart stopped beating when our rookie OT Williams went down and didn't come back. He's having an MRI on his knee tomorrow, all I know is we need this guy! Without an offensive line, we're in a lot of trouble. Don't get me started on two left feet, Chubaca goofy looking Heyer who can't block a fat kid coming at him with a popsicle, he'd probably join him in eating it. Trent Williams needs to get better! The offense showed they can put the points up, although this was the second game in a row that the running game has been no where to be found though this time it was worse than game 1. Though the redskins were one dimensional today, they managed to put points put so I'll take that any day. Lots of concerns though. I do know that all the professional analysts out there didn't give the redskins any credit against the Texans, the team that beat the Colts, the team that's going to make it to the playoffs this year maybe farther. I tell you what, they hung in there with them, not only that but if it wasn't for our their stupid mistakes they walked away with a win today. I think they skins deserved to lose, when you play a good team and make the mistakes that the redskins made you can't expect to win games like that in the NFL. I know that they looked better than last year, better than last week, which means they're gonna keep working hard and continue to improve. One week at a time, one game at a time, there are bigger worries this week like the well being of Trent Williams, this is just HUGE!

What gold pants can do for you!

Football is back and IT FEELS GOOOOOD! It was action packed, injury filled and the best part is having the feeling of your home team winning their first regular season game. Donovan McNabb made his first start against the division rival but most importantly…arch rival, Dallas Cowboys. Redskin fans didn't what to expect going into this game, new coach, new QB, new defensive coordinator, new personnel all around. They're without they're 4+ Pro Bowl left tackle and protector of the QB, Chris Samuels only to be replaced by a rookie that's going to make things ok for the quarterback's blind spot for many years to come. Trent "I WILL CARRY YOU 25+ YDS" Williams is the real deal. All in all everyone came together to play ball, mistakes were made but the game was carried on and played without hesitation, only reaction. McNabb couldn't find the end zone but you have to be pretty happy about the rookie's big test against a ferocious pass rusher like Ware. There was a running play where Williams blocked the defender and carried him to what seemed 15+ yards for a redskins first down. The defense came through like previous years, the difference is the constant bodies flying around and everyone running to the ball every snap. Hall had a beautiful strip, recovery and mocking Deion Sanders dance to the end zone scoring the skins only TD. Orakpo consistently hurried the QB bringing the game to a close with a holding penalty against his defender, avoiding Romo from getting his head knocked off. Shanahan brought poise, experience, game plan and a completely different feel to the redskins than previous years. The redskins failed to score an offensive TD which has to be on the coach's mind, they'll go back to the practice field with lots of things to work on but at least one thing's out of the way, game 1 and all of the uncertainties. Redskin fans all over are rejoicing in the defeat of their renewed rivalry against the Dallas Cowboys. On a last note, how sharp was the redskins new look? Silly!

Football is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

This is the time we football fans have been waiting for since the Superbowl, some of us have been waiting and anticipating this moment since our individual team got bounced out or just plain ran out of gas. Whatever happened last year happened, today football is back. The hits are as real as a car crash, no more pre season chumps just football. So many questions are running in the fan's mind...how will my team do? Will the off season moves pay off? Will the pre season injuries get in the way? Time will tell but for now we have a great season opener to look forward to and our first full NFL Sunday fun day just a few days away! I can smell the grass in the air, I hear the stadium songs pumping the players and myself up! Football is back! Another year with all the hopes that our team will make it to the promise land and win that Lombardi. Now with all that said and done....ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL??!?!?!?!?!
